“Action on behalf of life transforms. Because the relationship between self and the world is reciprocal, it is not a question of first getting enlightened or saved and then acting. As we work to heal the earth, the earth heals us.”

Our Vision

We all know about the importance of protecting the environment, but sometimes it feels as though there is nothing we can do to change that. We at LFM know that isn't true, and that an inspired and determined community can spark changes and move us into a better future.

We want to learn and grow, so that we can all come to love the nature around us, and take that with us wherever we go. We want to defend our community from the effects climate change. And we want to lead the diverse city of Montreal to a better, greener, and more equitable future.

Our Values: SEED

S

ustainability

A lasting harmonious relationship with the environment and each other to maintain an ecological balance.

E

quity

Everyone should have access to natural spaces and their benefits, regardless of their background. We recognize and aim to work with local cultures to learn and grow together, to create a greener future for the benefit of us all.

E

cocentrism

The Land and the beings that inhabit it are not less important than humans; we should treat them with respect, and learn from their wisdom

D

ecolonisation

Colonial values have caused immense harm to the Land and the Indigenous peoples who have inhabited it for millennia. We humbly seek to challenge these values. We strive to be better stewards through Indigenous teachings, as well as collaborating with Indigenous communities in and around Tio'Tia: Ke.
